Hard Hats & Safety Helmets are designed to prevent or decrease the severity of traumatic head injuries by helping to protect against impact from falling objects, electrical hazards, slips, trips, and falls. There are two types of hard hats and safety helmets, ANSI Type I and Type II. Knowing the difference is important when making the best selection for your application. Type I hard hats offer protection from impact to the top of the head only. Type II hard hats and safety helmets provide an increased level of protection from impact to the top and sides of the head.
Hard Hats & Safety Helmets fall into one of three Classes. Class C (or Conductive) options do not protect against contact with electrical hazards. Class G (or General) offers a level of protection against low-voltage conductors and electrical hazards to the heads - up to 2,200 volts. Class E (or Electrical) provides an increased level of protection against higher-voltage conductors and hazards to the head - up to 20,000 volts.
